Numerical Simulation of Hot Dry Rock Fracture Monitoring by Time-Lapse Magnetotelluric Method

The spatial distribution of rock fractures during water injection in hot dry (HDR) geothermal is essential information for evaluating well fracturing. produce anisotropic electrical characteristics, which may facilitate geophysical methods monitoring fracture distribution. This paper studies the magnetotelluric (MT) response fracturing based on finite difference method (FEM). It uses residual phase tensor (PT) to calculate characteristics strike and dip angle. feasibility analysis technique under a different angle resistivity conditions reservoir investigation discussed detail. results demonstrate that MT can explain structure changes from HDR at 5 km depth. time-lapse provide reliable scientific basis direction spreading characteristics.
